And let’s not forget that one of Adele’s breakup songs included the line “I wish nothing but the best for you two” whereas one of Taylor’s breakup songs (which are apparently all she knows how to write) included the line “go ahead and tell your friends I’m obsessive and crazy, I’ll tell mine you’re gay”.
I think that contrast there sums it up pretty well.
Holy shit, they are the same age. The maturity difference is STAG.GER.ING.Oh my God. They’re NOT the same age, look on fucking Wikipedia. Adele is over a year older. Second: not all Taylor’s songs are ‘breakup songs’, listen to her fucking albums before you make sweeping statements like that. And third, Teardrops on my Guitar is nothing but nice about the guy’s girlfriend, so stop fucking believing everything Tumblr says about Taylor without doing any research of your own. The gullibility of people on here is incredible, and it’s harmful as fuck. Oh and fourth, saying that a woman is immature for writing break-up songs is actually pretty misogynistic - oh, she’s not allowed to call the guy out for doing something wrong in the relationship? MUST be her being immature. She’s not allowed to turn something that hurt her into a positive situation? Oh, no, women are meant to suck it up when a guy hurts them and never complain about the shitty way they get treated. And being a mother does not automatically make you mature, fucking hell. And a rather large chunk of Adele’s catalogue is break-up songs about yes, REAL break-ups so they’re not that different in where they get their inspiration from. Stop pitting them against each other. The attitude towards Taylor on Tumblr is fucking disgusting and mostly based on lies, rumour and pure hypocrisy, it’s actually horrific.
Well no, a lot of her lyrics are actually quite ridiculous. I worked in a music shop over the summer, and had to listen to Red at least twice a day, and it was so ridiculously immature. She is more than welcome to go on if a guy screws her over, but to then release a song that is so obviously about an ex, especailly when she knows how popular she is, shows a lack of respect and maturity. I’d expect it from a scorned 16 year old, but not a legal adult who is pretty much demonstrating to young girls (ie: her main audience) that you can shame your exes to everyone who will listen. I’m sorry, but I don’t find her to be the role model others claim her to be. At all.
